This is what I call a true artist. This was Alicia Keys debut CD. Alicia writes most of her own tracks, and plays a lot of the music for the recordings as well. The CD starts with a piano classic, but then Alicia drops her own beats into it, showing her own styling which is a great opening for the CD. I loved it from start to finish, and I hope you do to.
Yep, not buying it for $13.99. MP3 download albums should be $9.99 at most. I have no plans to ever pay more than $9.99 for this album.
This review is for the DVD-A release only. What is stunning is the absolute clarity, full vocal range, and the surround arrangement. "Songs in A Minor" is a run-of-the-mill R&B album as far as content goes, but it does contain "Fallin'" and "A Woman's Worth". There is also an amazing old-school 70s-sounding jam on one of the tracks. You feel as though the chorus is actually behind you. There is no stereo downmix, so you pretty much need a surround setup to hear it correctly.
I didn't know if I was going to like the cd or not but I love it.
"Caged Bird" is a beautiful sweet song. "Rock Wit You" has a great beat and bass line.
"Piano & I" establishes Alicia as a talent on the piano. I love the groovy track "Girlfriend".
Songs In A Minor is a modern classic. "Troubles" is a very sensual sounding track.
Alicia's piano playing and vocals are so soulful on the track "Fallin". "A Woman's Worth" and "Jane Doe" are such smooth tracks.
I love this song. Every track is excellent on this disc.
